Full groom prices in the UK
A full groom costs £40 to £52 for a small dog, £45 to £60 for a medium dog, £52 to £79 for a large dog and £69 to £110 for a giant breed, the middle half of 533 published UK prices in October 2026. Typical prices
Ranges, not quotes. A price depends on your dog.
| Work | Typical UK price |

| Medium dog (67 prices) | £45 to £60 |
| Large dog (66 prices) | £52 to £79 |
| Giant breed (40 prices) | £69 to £110 |
| Small dog, London (13 prices) | £58 to £75 |
| Large dog, London (11 prices) | £80 to £102 |
| Cockapoo or cavapoo (37 prices) | £50 to £60 |
Each figure is the middle half of published prices, checked October 2026: a quarter of groomers charge less and a quarter more. Most are 'from' prices for a well-kept coat, so a first visit or an overdue coat often costs more. Compare quotes for the same breed, coat length and interval between grooms.
What moves the price
- Size. Price lists are set by size band or by breed, because a large dog takes longer to wash, dry and cut; the middle published price rises from £45 for a small dog to £62 for a large one.
- Coat type. Curly, long and double coats cost more than smooth coats of the same size. Where groomers publish a breed price, the middle half is £50 to £60 for a cockapoo or cavapoo (37 prices), £60 to £75 for a doodle (32) and £62 to £80 for a standard poodle (12).
- Condition. Matting, a coat overdue by several weeks, or fleas add a surcharge or a charge by time; the middle half of 20 published flat matting charges is £10 to £16.
- Region. London's middle prices are about 60% above the rest of the UK at every size, from 46 London prices by 11 groomers. Outside London the middle price varies less between regions than between salons in the same region.
- Temperament and time. A dog that needs breaks, a second pair of hands or a muzzle takes longer; the 5 groomers who publish a charge for it ask £5 to £20 flat or £10 to £20 an hour.

Questions about full groom
Is a mobile dog groomer more expensive than a salon?
Not on the prices groomers publish, though mobile prices are few. The 91 full groom prices from 13 mobile groomers have a middle half of £45 to £55, against £45 to £65 for 390 salon prices (October 2026). Two of the 16 mobile groomers in the data publish a call-out or home-visit fee.
Should a double-coated dog be clipped short in summer?
Most groomers advise against it as a routine, because the undercoat can grow back unevenly and the outer coat helps protect the skin from sun. A de-shed with a bath and high-velocity dry removes the loose undercoat instead. A short clip is sometimes the only option when the coat is badly matted.
