Typical prices

Ranges, not quotes. A price depends on your dog.

WorkTypical UK price
Small dog (63 prices)£25 to £35
Medium dog (51 prices)£30 to £40
Large dog (51 prices)£39 to £54
Giant breed (27 prices)£46 to £88
London, any size (43 prices)£45 to £68
De-shed added to a bath (14 prices)£8.50 to £12

Each figure is the middle half of published prices, checked October 2026. A bath and brush is the cheapest way to keep a smooth-coated dog clean and moulting less, and the cheapest way to stretch the gap between full grooms for a curly coat. It is not a substitute for a haircut on a coat that keeps growing.

What moves the price

  • Size. A large dog takes longer to wet through, rinse and dry; the middle published price rises from £30 for a small dog to £45 for a large one.
  • Coat length and type. Long and double coats cost more than smooth coats, and some groomers charge smooth-coated dogs one size band down.
  • Tidy or no tidy. A face, feet and hygiene trim turns a bath and brush into a bath and tidy, which costs more.
  • De-shed. A de-shed added to a bath is a small extra: the middle half of 14 published add-on prices is £8.50 to £12.
  • Drying. A full dry costs more than a 'wash and go' where the dog leaves partly towel-dried.

Questions about bath and brush

Is a bath and brush enough for a cockapoo?

Not on its own. A cockapoo's coat keeps growing and needs a full groom every 6 to 12 weeks. A bath and brush in between helps keep knots out and can make the full groom quicker.

Can I just get my dog washed at a groomer?

Yes. Most groomers offer a bath, dry and brush, and some offer a cheaper wash with a partial dry. Booking is usually needed, though some salons take walk-ins for short appointments.
